This just in :

iPod Shuffles are machine washable!

althoug it is an undocumented feature it turns out that if some nameless (and kinda tired) person accidentally leaves his Shuffle and keys in the cargo pocket of his favorite grey pants, then runs said pants through a fairly standard washing machine (cold water, not too much soap) all three items (shuffle, keys, pants) will come through none the worse for wear!

  • this doesn't surprise me all that much after having watched carl deal bring back a phone that sat at the bottom of the san marcos river for upwards of 5-10 minutes.

After it was retrieved, he sat it on a sunny dashboard while we browsed CD's at CD Wareshouse, then back at home he took it apart and held a warm blowdryer to it for 20-30 minutes. once the battery was re-inserted it came back to life without a problem.

i would imagine that the ipod shuffle, being a little less 'complicated' (no screen) than a cellphone, would hold up even better with a little water.

Did you run it in a dryer or discover it after the wash?
