Houstonians: what's the word?

So it looks like no ACLFest for me. Then again, who cares if I see Wilco if Houston is being battered by a storm? I understand this.

We're talking about where my cats should go and why in the world I live in an apartment with 21 windows. Yes, 21 windows. There isn't a room without a window. Most have four or more.

My landlord says the neighborhood didn't flood during Alison, which is good news.

I feel like everyone is freaking out and maybe I should be freaking out, I don't know. I'm worried most about my cats. I want to make sure they're in a safe place.

Sigh. The end of the world must be nigh.

  • A mutual friend of ours (she is without a cover name) went to the store today and was caught up in a whirlwind; the store (Kroger) was so full there were no baskets. All the bottled water was gone, batteries were nearly wiped out ...

people are getting ready, that's for sure. We are also being prudent. Carol is planning to drive to Austin this weekend (maybe thursday night if landfall in houston is imminent). Carol is gathering all our insurance paper work, ss cards, birth certs, etc ... for safe keeping. I am going to video tape the house tomorrow for a visual record should my house be utterly destroyed, however unlikely that is.

i won't be putting plywood on my windows, but i will be taping them before i leave for the weekend.

21 windows ??? so are you also leaving for austin? mustard mentioned something about you being in austin this weekend along with her parents...

As for your cats, i'm sure if you get them to austin, one of our many mutual friends will be able to figure something out.
