What is everybody reading? I need a new book!

  • I am reading "The Argumentative Indian" by Amartya Sen. It is about the history and tradition of rational thought in Indian culture. It is sort of intended to debunk the idea of Indian intellectual tradition as being dominated by unquestioned spiritual thought. I just started it, but so far it is fascinating.

I just finished reading "The Persian Puzzle" by Kenneth Pollack. It is half history of Iran and half political analysis of Iran's current position. I really enjoyed it.

  • Thanks! The Persian Puzzle sounds like just what I am looking for! I have had this life-long fascination with Persia and modern day Iran ... maybe its from watching so much iranian-american television when I was a kid in Los Angeles...
