Wacom: Graphire or Intuos?

I have been considering getting a Wacom tablet for some time now; I may be ready to bite the bullet. I do have a question to put to you designer types who may have used these gadgets:

Graphire or Intous

I will be using this doodad primarily for doing the drawing. Is it worth the extra 100+ to get the Intuos over the Graphire???

  • I've got a 6x8 and a 12x19 here at hte office, both intuos. both are pretty sweet. the 6x8 Intuos 3 i'm currently using is nearly the perfect size (the 4x5 is way too small and the 9x12 is way too big) and has all sort of cool functions that the standard graphire (and even the intuos 2 9x12) doesn't have, such as touch scroll pads on either side, assignable keys on either side, a cool grip pen, and a five button mouse.
    Another difference is that the intuos pads can sense the angle at which the pen is hitting the pad. A bit pricey for the Intuos 3 6x8, but if you've got the dough and you're really going to use it, get it!

  • I was wondering if the 4x5 would be too small. I am dismayed to hear that it might be, because I do not think that I could afford the bigger sizes...

  • ALL I CAN COMMENT ON IS THE SIZE THING.
    I AM CURRENTLY USING THE BIG PAD.

    IT'S HUGE

    IT TAKES UP TOO MUCH SPACE ON MY DESK.
    GO FOR THE MID SIZE.

    BUT I HAVE A FEELING THAT ONCE ADJUSTED TO IT, THE LITTLOE ONE WOULD WORK JUST AS WELL. YEAH IT'S SMALL, BUT IT IS JUST A MATTER OF GETTING USED TO IT, RIGHT.
