Question

My little brother will be touring and traveling in Europe and the Far East for most of the coming 8 months. I am very excited for him because he has not had much opportunity to travel before, and certainly not in Europe, etc.

Anyhow, he is considering either buying an iPod or a digital camera. If you were to travel for this long, had neither of these items, and could only acquire one of them, which you would you choose?

  • Camera. But I may be a bit biased.
One wold be mor enjoyable in the traveling sense.....whilst moving. The other is more .... documentary.
The ipod isnt going to help "create" memories.

  • I vote for a camera as well. It seems to be no-contest. But then he was talking about how after being on tour for a while, and riding around with the same stinky dudes on a bus for hours, you need an escape.

he can get an ipod later
he could also get pics with a disposable camera - but they wouldn't come out as nice

  • Does he need a soundtrack for the trip? If so and can find power every day, then he may need an iPod.

Is he very forgetful? Cameras are very handy for remembering things. With a Polaroid and a magic marker he can still function while being very forgetful.
