It is a strange ...

but what would make me most proud of my government, would be seeing half of it sent to jail in handcuffs.

  • Yeah, I'd like to see the Democrats sent to jail too. But, technically, they make up less than half of the government, I think.

  • I mean to use the word 'half' quite figuratively, as in 'lots'. I certainly do not mean that I would like to see the entire portion of the government that is Republican sent to jail...

    It would just be pleasant to see a corrective force at work. A corruption free democracy does not mean that the democracy is healthy- rather, it means that that democracy is fortunate. A healthy democracy, on the other hand, is one that succesfully discovers and punishes corruption.

    Therefore it would, strangely, make me feel quite proud of my government to see it send its corrupt members off to jail be they Democrat, Republican or whatever. It would mean to me that the system is not entirely broken...

  • The Coburn Amendment (PDF link) was was defeated 86 to 13. Looks like it is a great deal more than half.
