Failing Harddrive

The internal hard-drive on my ibook may be failing...

The 'verify disk' command in 'Disk Utility' is unable to complete, so I booted into Single User Mode, and ran fsck -yf. This completed without problems. I then booted back in and tried to 'verify disk' again. No dice.

Is my hard-drive failing? Yikes! No AppleCare!

  • HD failure isn't that expensive. I think you should give Disk Warrior a whirl. Are you getting freezes and whatnot when you try to access certain files?

  • speaking of problems: in the last week, my powerbook fans have made some pretty horrendous sounds twice. no apple care, either. is there any way to get them and check them out? or is that a major repair?

  • back up! back up! the same thing happened to michael (b. not lovitt) and his drive died entirely a couple of weeks later.
