Steve Jobs keynote live from Macworld 2006 - Engadget

Steve Jobs keynote live from Macworld 2006 - Engadget: "12:48 PM -'Hi, I'm Steve and welcome to my weekly podcast, Super-secret Apple
Rumors.' (huge laughs) 'I have some pretty good sources inside Apple, and the next iPod is going to be
HUGE, like 8 pounds ... See you next week.'"

  • so are you going to be an early adopter, adolph? will we all be oohing and aahhing over your new macBook?

  • I wish I had an extra 2,000 bucks laying around. I did the dumb thing of jumping into a new model with the PowerBook 12", although it turned out very well. Come to think of it, I did a similar thing with the good old iBook 500.

The MacBook is a bit different though. I guess the only thing that I will need to run in Rosetta is CS and Studio, but then, those are the most processor intensive apps I have. Adobe doesn't seem like it is shirking from it's Mac apps, so hopefully there will be a universal binary for CS2 and Studio 8 before CS3, although I'm not holding my breath. If you visit the Apple store, they are still selling the old iMac and PowerBooks.

The large top part of the screen bevel on the MacBook is also pretty ugly. A built-in iSight is cool and all, but is it worth losing 60 pixels across the screen? My default dock is only 50 pixels, so you are losing more real estate than you do when you leave the dock on.

The magnetic latching power adapter is so sweet. I can't wait to go to the Apple store and pop it off and on, just like I like playing with those magnetic latches on purses and whatnot.
