Night Shots

I thought today was going to be the day that i came home, ate and flopped down on the bed to sleep. Carol took the kids to her sister's house - it was going to be paradise. But when i walked in the door habit kicked in. I left the house, put gas in the car ($3.39 a gallon?! You gotta be kidding me) and went for dinner. As i sat eating i watched the sky go from light blue to dark blue. I looked at my phone 6:49.

i wanted something secluded, something colorful with mixed lighting. I tried an office park first along Hempstead Highway. I was meaning to simply work on exposing for lighting and dusk sky. The sky grew dark quickly, but fortunately it was a cloudy night and i live in a heavily lit area; the clouds worked their magic. Furthermore, it was windy and the clouds were moving which was going to give a nice smooth, smoky look to the sky. At least, that's what i thought.

After driving around a bit, i finally found a line of train cars sitting along Hempstead Hwy next to a heavily lit WM (Waste Managment) facility. There was a mix of white and orange lights which made things pretty interesting.

This was fun - i can see myself doing a lot more of this.
