too much Verve!

the problem with hosting your site, your email and your client's sites with the same hosting company is that if one of those elements has a problem it is very likely that ALL of those elements will have a problem. this creates an amazingly frustrating time period during which you cannot work on any of several projects, nor can you easily communicate with any of the effected clients.

  • That is pretty funny-unfunny. I remember learning this lesson the hard way a couple of years ago at work when our ancient Win NT 4.5 servers were hit with some serious worm-age. Luckily I was able to communicate out via my mac.com email address and got email mailbagged at our DNS and web host while things were straightened out. In fact, I still keep email, DNS and backup web on one host and regular website at another so I don't have all the egs in one basket, even if it causes me a little more work.
