Bloggalysis

I think the blogging experience could be greatly improved if you received some sort of an update on the list of current posts -- like, "this post has received 2 new comments since the last time you signed in." Because now I'm not sure if I should respond to JP in the comments section of my last post because I don't know if he'll click on it, or should I start a new post? But then, I wouldn't want to take up valuable public blog space with all the personal details of, "have you seen so and so? where'd you get that nifty haircut? who's frank? where out west are you going?" ..... etc., etc. ...

will paul really read his comments to see that I'm eager to catch up and see what new and wonderful creations he's devising with his life these days?

and will adolph ever go back to that "mountain livin' " post to read the long response I gave, or did I just type into the wind, so to speak? Am I the only one experiencing bloggalysis?!

  • i agree. in many ways this 'Blogger' blog is primitive and can be improved.

I think that an rss feed of the comments, something like flickr's 'recent activity' feed would be great.

alas, the best you can do with blogger is configure it to send out an email when a comment is posted...

maybe what i should do is set up a php script that receives and processes the email, updating the index page with a recent activity widget...

anyhow, bloggalysis happens, you are not alone. conversations are cut short, or never happen, because the comments are buried or not read or have moved off the page...

  • Yeah, fancy bloggin systems have comment rss. We're cans and string here. "Recent activity" would be really nice.

Maybe it is time for a chairjockey upgrade? Fold the flickr stuff in so you can catch up with the latest there along with the latest from the blog?

Maybe we should turn comments off so everyone posts to the front page?

  • Amber: Hey. I haven't seen Randy, but I do know that he's in San Antonio and working for KISS radio station. I wrote him and e-mail a few weeks ago, and he's yet to get back to me. Frank's the Partner, we met in Hawaii, it's a great story, one I love telling but alas...public blog, not too many folks really care that much. Haircut is by REESA she's a hoot. We'll go to San Francisco and sublet from a good friend who's going to go to grad school in Davis...It'll be dirt cheap for the City and I love being able to walk down the street holding hands...in an nutshell...there you are.
