Score!

I stopped by Half Price Books earlier this evening on my way to meet some coworkers in Rice Village. I found a brand new copy of Hal Varian's Intermediate Microeconomics, 6th Edition for $15! It lists for $133 and Amazon's price is $122. Woo hoo!

  • so are you going to re-sell it on ebay for $80 or even $100? Wouldn't that be the best thing you could do with a microeconomics book you bought for only $15?

  • Ha!

  • Well... not if the book helps me master material that enables me to get into a much better graduate program than I otherwise would have and leads to substantially higher earnings over my lifetime.

And anyway, they had two copies. So I will use one and sell the other.

  • you bought both copies? sweet!

kidding aside, do you have an economics degree?

  • Not yet. I am still working on my undergrad. If all goes according to plan, I'll be applying to graduate economics programs in spring 2006 and starting fall 2006.

  • when you get your economics degree will you dress up like the guy from 'monopoly' and walk across the stage with your hand outstretched? Do you get to choose your degree from the Community Chest or the Chance Chest?

  • I will consider it. I am sure that most schools have dress requirements for graduation ceremonies. (I am thinking maybe something along the lines of a cap and gown...) I am about 99% sure that I will be going to the U.K. for my master's. I think they take ceremonial stuff very seriousy.
