Neat!

cmd-shift-4 and then spacebar

and

sips

  • I remember using SIPS when 10.3 first came out. I set up drop folders to set images 90 degrees CW or CCW. This afternoon I tried pbpaste | sips --whatever | pbcopy but it didn't work because pbpaste only works with text, RTF and EPS. When you use cmd ctrl shift 4 the screencapture utility copies the image (tiff, jpg ?) to the clipboard. Piping the screencapture utility into sips doesn't seem to work either.

  • is SIPS related to folder actions? i thought that the drop folders you created were with folder actions...

  • SIPS is a technology that folder action scripts can call on to do things. I think that Folder Actions can directly call only compiled AppleScript (however, I think that an AppleScript can call on a shell, perl, python, ruby or whatever script).
